Choose the right audio source and verify captions before a practice session or permitted interview.

Microphone and meeting audio are different

A microphone normally captures your voice and nearby sound. It may not capture a remote participant clearly, especially when you wear headphones. A supported browser-tab capture can supply the selected tab’s audio instead. Choose the source that matches your intended practice or permitted meeting workflow.

Use a current desktop Chrome or Edge browser for supported tab audio. English is the current speech language. Browser, operating system, and meeting-app behavior can differ, so a successful test on one configuration does not prove another will work.

A five-step readiness check

  1. Close unnecessary audio applications and select the input/output devices you intend to use.
  2. Open the relevant meeting or practice audio in a browser tab when using tab capture.
  3. In AskDADA, choose the intended source and review the browser permission prompt. Share only the source you mean to provide.
  4. Play or say a short permitted English sample. Confirm the captions match the correct speaker/source.
  5. Start a brief practice flow, check the timer and answer response, then pause or end it.

Only use material you are allowed to process. For a real meeting, obtain the required organizer and participant permission first.

If no captions appear

  • Confirm the selected source is not muted and the browser tab actually contains audio.
  • Check that microphone/site permissions have not been blocked.
  • Check the operating system’s microphone or capture permissions for the selected application.
  • Try a short microphone practice sample to distinguish an input issue from a service/connection issue.
  • Stop repeated attempts if the service reports an error; note the time, device, and displayed message for support.

Desktop and screen sharing

Desktop 1.1.4 is an unsigned preview for macOS 13+ and Windows x64. Operating-system security warnings may prevent installation; the browser app remains available. Review the current release page.

Screen-capture protection is different from audio capture. It varies by operating system and meeting application. Always check your actual sharing preview, and do not use it to violate assessment rules.
