Choose an analysis you can explain from beginning to end. Describe who needed the answer, what decision depended on it, the dataset’s limitations, and the measure you selected. A clear response separates a descriptive pattern from a causal conclusion.

Worked example: a conversion-rate drop
A team sees fewer completed signups. You verify the event definitions, split the funnel by device and acquisition source, and discover that a tracking change affects one segment.
Explain how you distinguished a measurement problem from a product problem. Name the denominator, cohort window, and checks you made before recommending a fix. Do not invent a recovery percentage or claim causation from a single before/after comparison.
Questions to rehearse
- What was the unit of analysis and what did the metric count?
- How did you handle missing, duplicated, or late-arriving records?
- Which alternative explanation did you test?
- What uncertainty remained when you presented the result?
- How did your recommendation change a business decision?
Practise a concise explanation
Use this order: decision, evidence, limitation, recommendation. First explain the finding to a non-technical partner, then prepare the deeper query/statistical detail for follow-ups. AskDADA’s suggestions should preserve your actual assumptions rather than turn a cautious finding into a certainty.
